This handmade Chinese Rug was made about 100 years ago and is the Chinese interpretation of the Art Deco movement from the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industrials Modernes in Paris. It is wool knots on a cotton foundation as are a vast majority of all tightly knotted rugs. The central medallion has earthlike qualities with surrounding cloudlike entities. It is 25"×37", a size very common in this type of rug. It has a slight loss at one pictured corner and low pile near one end in 3 sq.in. area, wear consistent with age. This is a prize of a rug. A cursory search will show rugs of this kind and size well above $500.
